Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. As a Neuroscience Registered Nurse, you will provide exceptional patient care to patients with neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses in our 30-bed Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (NPCU).

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and document assessment data to develop a comprehensive Plan of Care (POC) for patients.
  • Implement the POC, including medical orders and interdisciplinary approaches, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Evaluate patient progress and adjust the POC as needed.
  • Provide effective patient and family education and discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition to home or other care settings.
  • Administer medications and provide drug information to patients and families.
  • Act as a resource and support for other staff members, delivering patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality.
  • Delegate care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, and individual level of education and training.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment that fosters clinical education and supports student nurses and staff.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate's Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing.
  • Valid RN License.
  • One (1) year Registered Nursing experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong work ethics and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Certification.
  • BSN or MSN.
  • 2 or more years of nursing experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year in an acute care setting such as a teaching hospital.
  • Cardiac experience a plus.
Physical Requirements

This position requires constant physical activity, including standing, walking, talking, and using hands to touch, handle, or feel. Frequent physical activity includes sitting, bending, crawling, crouching, kneeling, stooping, reaching overhead, tasting, or smelling. Occasional physical activity includes lifting or carrying weight of 100 lbs or more, pushing or pulling weight of 100 lbs or more, and working in an inside medical facility environment with moderate noise levels.
