Position Overview:

Job Summary:


The Animal Care Attendant operates under the direct supervision of the Animal Shelter Manager and the Director of Animal Care and Control. This position is vital in ensuring that all animals receive humane treatment and proper care.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide adequate food and fresh water to all animals.
  • Adhere to established protocols for disease prevention and daily sanitation.
  • Maintain cleanliness of animal enclosures, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist in the intake process and conduct evaluations of animals.
  • Document and maintain accurate records for each animal.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.

Work Environment:
Exposure to various animals, including potential allergens, odors, and cleaning agents. Candidates should be prepared for outdoor work in diverse weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must possess at least one year of experience in animal handling. Familiarity with software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Google applications, and Chameleon is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to safely manage animals of various sizes and temperaments, including those that may be injured or aggressive. Pre-exposure vaccinations for tetanus and rabies are required or must be waived. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the public, staff, and volunteers are essential. Candidates should be detail-oriented and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, with frequent walking, bending, and lifting involved in the role.
