About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic leader to serve as the Chair of the Civil Engineering and Construction Department at Georgia Southern University. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the department's teaching, research, and service missions, and will be responsible for advancing a culture of academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for the department's teaching, research, and service missions

  • Manage departmental resources, including budgeting and personnel
  • Represent the department within the University community and maintain contacts with industry, alumni, and external stakeholders
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a terminal degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction/construction management, or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any of these areas. They will also have a strong record of teaching, research, and service, and will be able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a record of professional experience and research and service commensurate with the rank of Professor, as well as teaching or research expertise in one or more of the following areas: environmental engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, construction engineering, sustainable engineering, and/or construction management.
