Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Total Civil Construction & Engineering, LLC. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating a dump truck and other related vehicles, requiring a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Responsibilities
  • Operate a dump truck and other commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) to transport materials and equipment.
  • Meet delivery schedules while ensuring safe operation of assigned CMVs.
  • Document hours of service (HOS) as required by federal and state law, as well as company policy.
  • Inspect and report equipment defects, and drive safely to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure proper securement of loads and assist with unloading/loading materials as needed.
Requirements
  • Active Class-B or Class-A CDL.
  • Current DOT Medical Card (or able to obtain DOT Medical Card).
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug test.
  • 1 or more years of experience in operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) hauling materials.
  • Satisfactory driving record (must be able to be underwritten by insurer and meet company requirements).
  • Able to pass road test demonstrating ability to do pre- and post-trip inspections, operate a CMV safely, and secure loads.
  • Satisfactory DOT background check.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel throughout Maryland, DC, and Virginia. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations, as well as adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations.
