Job Title: Speech Language Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Specialist to join our team at Englewood Public School District.

Job Summary:

The Speech Language Specialist will be responsible for assessing, treating, and providing strategies for the prevention and remediation of speech, language, and hearing disorders in students.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and diagnose speech and language disorders in students
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address speech and language deficits
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to provide support and accommodations for students with speech and language disorders
  • Provide training and support to teachers on strategies for supporting students with speech and language disorders
  • Stay current with best practices and research in the field of speech-language pathology
Requirements:
  • Hold a valid New Jersey educational services certificate with a Speech-Language Specialist endorsement
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess, treat, and provide strategies for the prevention and remediation of speech, language, and hearing disorders
  • Have at least three years of experience in the field
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of speech-language pathology, child growth and development, learning assessment and diagnosis, research related to learning, instructional strategies, and classroom management
  • Demonstrate an understanding of current rules and regulations regarding Child Study Teams and special education assessment and program requirements
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and the interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
  • Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications
