Opportunity Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager / Team Leader to enhance our Professional & Pollution Liability Unit. This role will focus on managing insurance product lines and providing oversight to our underwriting team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop marketing strategies to attract new business and manage renewals.

• Assess applications, terms, financials, and loss histories to evaluate risk levels in accordance with company guidelines.

• Collaborate with various internal divisions, including Actuarial, Claims, and Marketing, to support underwriting activities.

• Make informed decisions regarding risk acceptance or rejection.

• Utilize approved rating models to determine rates and premiums.

• Create and adjust policy wording when standard forms do not suffice.

• Promote cross-selling of products and services.

• Uphold service standards in delivering professional and pollution liability products.

• Lead a team in rewriting policy forms, coordinating with all relevant stakeholders.

• Establish a process for regular updates to policy forms and endorsements.

• Maintain a comprehensive catalog of manuscript endorsements and make recommendations for their inclusion in standard policy language.

• Mentor and motivate underwriters and team members.

• Undertake additional projects as needed.

Management Duties:

• Supervise and inspire team underwriters while collaborating with underwriting assistants.

• Manage team portfolios, focusing on limit deployment and pricing adequacy.

• Participate in special projects as directed by senior management.

Qualifications:

• Significant experience in Commercial Underwriting, particularly in Professional & Pollution Liability.

• Deep understanding of underwriting solutions for construction-related entities.

• Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player.

• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and brokers.

• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced education or professional designations preferred.

• Willingness to travel as necessary.
