Job Summary

LPR International is seeking a skilled Cook/Food Service Worker to join our team in Bethesda, MD. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of foods, including meats, poultry, fish, and vegetables, while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a full range of foods, including meats, poultry, fish, and vegetables, using various cooking methods such as grilling, broiling, baking, roasting, boiling, frying, braising, sautéing, poaching, and steaming.
  • Menu Planning: Plan and coordinate the preparation of entire meals, taking into account the cooking times and characteristics of various ingredients.
  • Inventory Management: Take daily inventory of food and supplies, and communicate any needs to the supervisor.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Maintain a clean, sanitary, and orderly work area, including refrigerators, freezers, and cooking equipment.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff, responding to their needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, and at least one year of prior cook/food service experience, preferably in a patient care facility/hospital.
  • Certifications: SERVSAFE certification.
  • Language Skills: Must have a demonstrated proficiency in the English language.
  • Computer Skills: Ability to operate a computer and basic applications such as email and Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, lift items weighing up to 40 pounds, and employ hand dexterity in the use of equipment.
  • Environmental Factors: Ability to handle moderate noise typical of a cafeteria setting.
