Academic Support Specialist

KidsPeace is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Educational Therapist to join our team. As an Educational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing education and support to our students in a structured and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Intervention: Assess each child's social, educational, and emotional needs and intervene therapeutically to promote learning and positive peer and adult interactions.
- Lesson Planning and Implementation: Complete lesson plans, due process, report cards, transcripts, behavior scales, and treatment documentation on established schedules. Plan and carry out weekly lesson plans, including activities that introduce, reinforce, review, and enrich skills.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in a team approach, including other teachers, parents, social workers, and psychiatrists, in order to review progress, develop, and implement appropriate treatment plans.
- Classroom Management: Supervise classroom management and primary crisis intervention utilizing positive behavior management strategies.
- Standardized Testing: Administer, score, and evaluate standardized tests for each child on an established schedule.
- Supervision and Training: Where applicable, instruct classroom aide to all necessary job responsibilities and assist in writing their annual evaluation.
- Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate discipline is required.
- PA Teaching Certificate is REQUIRED.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Experience with acute emotionally challenged children or adolescents is preferred.
- Valid driver's license, SCM certification (Level I or II preferred but Observer Status minimally required), CPR/First Aid certification is required.
