Occupational Overview
The Pharmacy Section of the Louisiana Department of Health is tasked with the oversight, execution, and management of Medicaid pharmacy operations within the Bureau of Health Services Financing (BHSF). The pharmacy team is dedicated to ensuring access to high-quality pharmaceutical services while optimizing operational efficiency, service delivery, and cost-effectiveness. Various initiatives are implemented within the pharmacy program to facilitate recipient access to necessary medications, streamline administrative processes, enhance provider collaboration, and achieve cost savings.

Key Responsibilities
As a member of the Pharmacy Program, your duties will encompass the following:
1. Engage in the daily functions of the Pharmacy Program.
2. Assist pharmacy personnel in adhering to compliance with numerous contractors, state and federal regulations, and providing support to both providers and recipients regarding claims.
3. Collaborate with pharmacy staff to develop, implement, and uphold pharmacy policies and procedures.
4. Facilitate communication and collaboration with federal officials, state legislators, and healthcare professionals.
5. Aid in the pharmacy provider enrollment process, ensuring compliance with recent initiatives.
6. Support the management of the single Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) for accurate program changes and claims processing.
7. Monitor contract compliance and ensure timely responses to issues raised by recipients and providers.
8. Assist in addressing beneficiary eligibility concerns to guarantee access to essential medications.
9. Undertake additional pharmacy-related tasks as directed by pharmacy staff.

Qualifications
A valid Louisiana pharmacist license in good standing is mandatory.

Minimum Requirements
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice pharmacy along with two years of experience as a licensed pharmacist.

Substitutions
A master's degree in pharmacy may substitute for one year of the required experience. A doctorate in pharmacy may substitute for the two years of required experience. Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program may also substitute for the two years of required experience.
