Occupational Summary
The Pharmacy Section within the Louisiana Department of Health is tasked with overseeing the Medicaid pharmacy operations, ensuring access to quality pharmaceutical services while maintaining operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The pharmacy team is dedicated to implementing various initiatives aimed at improving medication access for recipients, simplifying administrative processes, fostering provider collaboration, and achieving cost savings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Engage in the daily management of the Pharmacy Program.
2. Assist pharmacy personnel in ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and managing contractor relationships.
3. Support the development and maintenance of pharmacy policies and procedures.
4. Facilitate communication and collaboration with federal officials, state legislators, and healthcare professionals.
5. Aid in the pharmacy provider enrollment process, ensuring adherence to recent initiatives.
6. Oversee the management of the single Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) for accurate program changes and claims processing.
7. Monitor contract compliance and ensure timely responses to provider and recipient inquiries.
8. Assist with eligibility issues to guarantee access to essential medications for Medicaid beneficiaries.
9. Perform additional pharmacy-related tasks as directed by pharmacy staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of a current Louisiana pharmacy license and two years of experience as a licensed pharmacist.

Substitutions:
A master's degree in pharmacy may substitute for one year of experience; a doctorate in pharmacy may substitute for two years of experience; completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program may also substitute for the required experience.
