Occupational Summary
The Pharmacy Section of the Louisiana Department of Health is tasked with the oversight and execution of Medicaid pharmacy operations within the Bureau of Health Services Financing (BHSF). The team is committed to ensuring access to high-quality pharmacy services while optimizing operational efficiency, service delivery, and cost management. Various initiatives are in place to facilitate recipient access to necessary medications, streamline administrative processes, enhance provider collaboration, and achieve cost savings.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Engage in the daily management of the Pharmacy Program.
2. Assist pharmacy personnel in adhering to compliance standards across multiple contractors, as well as state and federal regulations.
3. Collaborate with pharmacy staff to develop, implement, and uphold pharmacy policies and procedures.
4. Support communication and collaboration with federal officials, state legislators, and healthcare professionals.
5. Aid in the pharmacy provider enrollment process and ensure compliance with recent initiatives.
6. Monitor contract compliance and address recipient and provider issues effectively.
7. Facilitate access to essential medications for Medicaid beneficiaries.

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice pharmacy along with two years of experience as a licensed pharmacist.

Substitutions:
A master's degree in pharmacy may substitute for one year of the required experience. A doctorate in pharmacy or completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program may substitute for the two years of required experience.
