Job Title: Intake Specialist

Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas (V) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Intake Specialist to join our team. As an Intake Specialist, you will serve as the initial point of contact for applicants seeking SSVF services, providing critical support and guidance throughout the application process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to inquiries from applicants regarding program eligibility requirements and other issues as needed
  • Collaborate with local office Program Assistant, Case Managers, and Co-Team leads to serve all veterans during the intake process
  • Maintain electronic and paper applicant files, including making appropriate entries into the applicant database or other databases such as AWARDS and Smartsheet
  • Perform initial data entry and updates in AWARD: Electronic Health Record system for SSVF
  • Attend applicant processing meetings, including occasional evening meetings, as needed
  • Provide applicants with appropriate information and referral services
  • Report weekly on eligible and ineligible applicants
Requirements:
  • Minimum four-year degree or comparable 2-4 years of experience working directly with families and at-risk populations
  • Ability to organize, assign tasks, and supervise volunteer staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be proactive and work well with diverse populations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
