Duke University is committed to providing exceptional patient care and is seeking a skilled Nurse Assistant I - Patient Care to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and be able to provide direct and indirect care to patients in our Duke Women's Health at Patterson Place clinic.

The Job Summary for this position is as follows:

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Assist the physician during the examination and procedures
  • Record vital signs and perform intake with the exception of medication review
  • Collect/prepare laboratory specimens as within scope; perform Point of Care laboratory tests
  • Sterilize medical instruments using Autoclave as appropriate
  • Daily clinic preparation process - QC and safety checks
  • Clean and restock exam rooms
  • Monitor and/or order clinic supplies
  • Review instructions with patients and/or caregivers
  • Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician and/or RN

The Job Eligibility Requirements for this position are as follows:

  • Completion of a Level I - Nurse Aide education program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or successful completion of the NC - approved Nurse Aide I competency test
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire orientation, which typically takes place during the first week of employment

This is a day shift position and the schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
