Position Overview

The Human Resources Specialist serves as the primary contact for addressing the needs of the College of Education. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient intake and assessment of HR inquiries and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently interpret and apply policies and procedures to address immediate inquiries and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Utilize various technology systems to manage essential HR functions, including:
    • Job descriptions and postings
    • Recruitment and retention strategies
    • Contract management and offer letters
    • Employment authorizations, including documentation
    • Payroll specifications and position management
    • Personnel record maintenance
  • Identify and resolve issues within HR program areas independently.
  • Serve as a backup for other HR Specialists as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience/Education:

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience from accredited institutions.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations independently.
  • Proficiency in Google Application Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Proactive and self-directed work style with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborative approach with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective prioritization and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a generalist HR role.
  • Higher education degree in business, human resources, or a related field.
  • Experience in an academic or higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with HRIM systems, particularly PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin.

Work Environment

This position requires a presence on campus to effectively perform essential duties. Candidates must be able to commute regularly to fulfill work-related functions.
