The Opportunity

QuidelOrtho is seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our R&D Software Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a small team of software developers, conceiving and implementing solutions to complex technical problems, and driving out-of-the-box thinking for our next-generation analyzers.

This is a unique opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from developing new software features to improving existing ones. You will be working closely with our customers to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements.

We are looking for a technical leader who is passionate about software development, has a strong background in embedded systems, and is able to drive innovation and excellence in their team.

The Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a small team of software developers
  • Conceive and implement solutions to complex technical problems
  • Drive out-of-the-box thinking for our next-generation analyzers
  • Work closely with customers to understand their needs and develop solutions
  • Improve existing software features and develop new ones
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and excellence
The Individual
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in software development, with a strong background in embedded systems
  • 3+ years of experience in leading and mentoring a team of software developers
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, software design patterns, and embedded real-time applications
  • Experience with C, C++, and other programming languages
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in software development for medical devices or other regulated industries
