Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at the University of Virginia Health System. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living to promote optimal recovery and comfort.
  • Perform basic nursing skills and procedures as delegated by a Registered Nurse, including vital signs, wound care, and medication administration.
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients and families, promoting a safe and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information and care activities.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification
  • Certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in the Commonwealth of Virginia or meet one of the alternative certification criteria
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • EMT or above certification
Work Environment

This role requires frequent bending, stooping, and driving. The successful candidate will be able to lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
