Immigration Paralegal Job Description

Student Legal Services at The Ohio State University seeks a highly skilled Immigration Paralegal to join its team in Columbus, Ohio. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support to our Immigration attorney, ensuring the success of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional client service, interacting with clients to explain the immigration process and requirements.
  • Obtain and review documents, ensuring clients understand their significance.
  • Research and stay up-to-date on immigration application requirements.
  • Maintain accurate client files, both online and offline.
  • Communicate progress and next steps to clients, ensuring transparency and trust.
  • Prepare and file necessary paperwork, ensuring timely submissions.
  • Supervise law clerk immigration assignments and workflow, promoting efficiency and productivity.
  • Assist with educational programming and outreach events, promoting our services to the university community.
Requirements:
  • Paralegal certificate or Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework.
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in relevant software.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal direction, and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least one year of immigration paralegal experience, with a focus on individual client work.
