Nursing Assistant

The University of Iowa Department of Nursing is seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to provide patient care support under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses. This role involves performing specific tasks to assist the nursing team in delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Assist with patient care tasks, including maintaining visual observation, redirecting patients, and summoning nursing staff as needed.
- Participate in hand-off of pertinent information and behavior about assigned patients.
- Arrange meal break times with nurses and inform them prior to leaving the monitoring station.
- Provide patient explanations and maintain patient environment safety.
- Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
- Implement the plan of care under the direction of the registered nurse.
- Observe patients for changes in physical condition and report to registered nurses.
- Perform simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as assigned.
- Participate in unit staff meetings and in-services.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
