Job Summary:

First Financial Bank is seeking a skilled Payroll Clerk to join our team. As a Payroll Clerk, you will be responsible for processing all employee data related to payroll, including tax reconciliation, benefit changes, and permanent employee records. You will also prepare all necessary support documents and reports.

Responsibilities:

* Process payroll data for new hires, terminations, salary changes, payroll deductions, hours worked, commissions, and incentive pay
* Balance time and verify employee time off information
* Assist in preparation of journal entries using the payroll general ledger program for posting to the general ledger system
* Assist in balancing federal/state payroll taxes, submitting 401k deductions, cafeteria plan, and other payroll deductions to appropriate third-party administrator
* Assist in balancing and paying all insurance bills, including updating files with new hires, changes, and termination information on enrolled employees
* Respond to written employment verification requests
* Assist employees with payroll, time off, and other related questions or problems

Requirements:

* High school plus two years of college or business school training; two to four years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Prior payroll/human resources experience preferred
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, etc.
