Patient Access Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center Healthcare. As a key member of our patient access team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient registration process for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Verify demographic and insurance information, obtaining all necessary signatures electronically or on paper.
- Collect payments due upon admission and ensure the insurance verification process is completed.
- Inform patients of Medical Center rates, rules, and regulations, and answer their questions in a professional and courteous manner.
- Input patient information into the computer to identify existing or initiate new medical records, patient labels, and bracelets.
- Scan insurance cards, Photo IDs, Advance Directives, and other facility information at the time of registration.
- Obtain electronic signatures for various registration forms, such as Permissions and Acknowledgements, and Notice of Observation to Inpatient Status Change.
- Escort patients to waiting room locations as needed.
- Meet or exceed departmental registration timing standards of 7 minutes per patient.
- Verify benefits via Epic Real-Time Eligibility and follow insurance requirements, such as Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire.
- Enter insurance coverage accurately and provide notification to insurance carriers as required.
- Assist in training new employees for the department and perform clerical duties, computer operational duties, filing, record keeping, answering phones, and providing excellent customer service.
- Meet or exceed registration accuracy of 97% evaluated on a quarterly basis.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, out-of-pocket, and balance due payments via check or credit card, obtaining authorization on all credit card transactions using Epic.
- Register Antenatal Patients in Epic.
- Assist and cover as needed the Hospital Information Desks, working closely with, instructing, and training all Information Desk and Lobby Escort volunteers.
- Assist with registrations in all Patient Access Registration areas as needed.
- Be comfortable working with many hospital computer applications and systems, including but not limited to; Epic, Watch Child, Access E-forms, Outlook Web Mail, OnBase Scanning, Word, and Excel.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- CHAA Preferred.
- 6 months' related experience.
- Knowledge of insurance coverage and billing, collection procedures, laws, rules, and regulations.
- Knowledge in medical terminology preferred.
- Skill in using computers and personal productivity applications.
- Skill in oral and written communication, including reading comprehension.
- Skill in data analysis to gather and update statistics, logs, records, and reports.
- Ability to type quickly and accurately.
- Excellent skill in customer service techniques.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
$16.38 - $23.78. Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, and alignment with our organizational needs.
