Job Title: Senior Refrigeration Manager

Job Summary:

The Senior Refrigeration Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, service, and installation of commercial refrigeration equipment. This leadership role requires advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements and the ability to manage multiple projects within established timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure all commercial refrigeration systems are maintained to meet operational standards.
  • Create service work orders and direct staff to ensure timely completion of work orders.
  • Direct staff in diagnosing commercial HVAC equipment and the dismantling, assembling, and installation of equipment.
  • Review production schedules and estimate labor requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Plan and develop equipment and refrigeration budgets for review by capital expenditure committee.
  • Enforce safety regulations and implement regular safety training for all team members.
  • Inspect all stores for maintenance and safety problems and oversee the corrections of problems and issues.
  • Review store safety inspections that require escalation, create service work orders, follow up with store management and district managers.
  • Prepare bids and contract specifications, solicit bids from outside vendors, negotiate and arrange contract services.
  • Conduct analyses of department costs and develop ROI projections, estimates, and proposals.
  • Participate in annual budget planning.
  • Maintain direct communication with management to discuss and review facilities department projects.
  • Attend facilities meetings.
  • Evaluate and discuss maintenance and new equipment needs.
  • Stay informed of future remodeling store projects and equipment.
  • Collaborate with leadership to plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures to improve operations, minimize costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and resources.
  • Review and approve all material and outside vendor expenses.
  • Provide leadership that represents Bashas' Leadership Traits and our values to inspire and empower the team.
  • Serve team as a servant leader, providing guidance and support to team members.
  • Monitor and prioritize staff workload.
  • Ensure adherence to department procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Be accountable for the performance and results of the team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven or more (7+) years' experience in commercial refrigeration, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in all areas of building trades.
  • Knowledge of supermarket refrigeration, electronic controls, budget management.
  • Excellent judgement and ability to accurately assess situations and diagnose and solve problems.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software including spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, and group presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in leadership, effectively working in a time-sensitive and fast-paced environment, planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
