Key Responsibilities:
- Client Care Management: Supervise and support the care of up to four clients, ensuring their needs are addressed in compliance with relevant guidelines. Administer medications and monitor health-related issues while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Effective Communication: Build and sustain positive relationships with clients, families, and team members to ensure the successful implementation of personalized care plans. Provide regular updates and reports regarding client progress and any notable changes in behavior or health.
- Activity Planning: Manage client shopping and expenditures, ensuring purchases align with individual preferences and budgetary constraints. Organize transportation and recreational activities, medical appointments, and other daily outings.
- Scheduling and Coverage: Oversee and coordinate the daily schedules for staff and clients, ensuring adequate coverage and alignment with client needs. Take responsibility for filling open shifts and adjusting your schedule as needed to maintain continuity of care.
- Leadership and Team Development: Guide and mentor a team of support staff, cultivating a positive and encouraging work atmosphere. Demonstrate flexibility in modifying care plans or schedules based on evolving client needs or behaviors.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about best practices in caring for individuals with developmental disabilities and integrate this knowledge into daily operations and staff training.
- Personal Care: Provide assistance with personal hygiene, nutrition, and overall comfort and safety, including infection prevention and control.
Work Schedule:
PARKVIEW SERVICES offers 24-hour care, including weekends and holidays. A full-time schedule may consist of various shifts, including morning and evening hours, with overnight shifts available.
Training Requirements:
Staff will complete over 75 hours of training, covering essential topics such as Orientation & Safety, Core Caregiving Fundamentals, Nurse Delegation, First Aid & CPR, and more. Ongoing education is required annually, and all staff must complete a tuberculosis test and be fully vaccinated as per regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant post-secondary education in social services, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is essential.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to foster a positive team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Familiarity with relevant guidelines and regulations is advantageous.
