The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, creating and adapting lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students, and coordinating with general education teachers to support students in mainstream classes.
- IEP Development and Implementation: Create and implement effective IEPs that cater to the unique needs of each student.
- Lesson Plan Adaptation: Develop and adapt lesson plans to ensure seamless integration with mainstream classes.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with general education teachers to support students in mainstream classes and effectively communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
To succeed in this role, you must possess a Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field, an active NYSPED License, and a strong understanding of IEP development and implementation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential for success in this position.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred)
- Licensing: Active NYSPED License and Severe Disabilities license (or experience) preferred
