About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to join St. Vincent De Paul Village as our General Counsel, playing a critical role in shaping the organization's legal strategy and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

As General Counsel, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on corporate governance, risk management, and compliance matters. Your expertise will be essential in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance program to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Provide strategic advice on corporate governance, risk management, and compliance matters.
  • Manage and supervise litigation involving the organization and its affiliates.
  • Oversee the organization's compliance with government laws, regulations, and public funders' contractual, reporting, and audit requirements.
  • Responsible for implementing HIPAA Privacy and Security measures for the organization.
  • Oversee all potential or actual health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims that may be eligible for Federal Tort Claims Act coverage.
  • Manage the organization's general liability, property, auto, workers' compensation, employer's, cyber, and crime insurance.
  • Serve as the liaison with the insurance broker and manage claims-related activities.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate and member of the California State Bar in good standing.
  • At least 8 years' experience on matters of corporate governance, compliance, employment law, commercial transactions, and litigation.
  • Well-versed in negotiation and drafting all types of contracts and legal documents with a sophisticated ability to determine risk levels and mitigate risk.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience, including recruitment, training, performance management, counseling, and retaining an engaged and accountable workforce.
  • Proficient in interpreting applicable federal, state, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information both orally and verbally in an easily understood manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to forecast legal expenses for budget planning purposes.
  • Intermediate user of MS Office.

Salary Range: $180,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on experience.
