Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor is a key member of the FirstService Residential team, responsible for overseeing the maintenance department and ensuring the physical assets of the Association are properly maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the maintenance department and ensure all maintenance activities are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Supervise and train maintenance staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and budgets to ensure the Association's physical assets are properly maintained.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and preventative maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to ensure all maintenance activities are aligned with the Association's goals and objectives.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner, with minimal disruption to residents.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5-10 years' experience in maintenance management or a related field.
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred; technical background from university or vocational sources a plus.
  • HVAC or other training or certification may be required.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry trades.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment related to facility maintenance.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and complete log sheets.
Working Conditions:

The Maintenance Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities. The position requires the ability to work effectively and efficiently, with minimal supervision. The Maintenance Supervisor will be required to work a standard 8-4pm schedule, with on-call responsibility as needed.
