PRIVATE BANKER

WHAT IS THE ROLE? This position is focused on cultivating and overseeing relationships with affluent individuals and families within a designated market. The role encompasses providing comprehensive financial advisory services, including banking, credit solutions, asset management, trust and estate planning, and brokerage services. The Private Banker is accountable for the overall profitability of client relationships and managing portfolio risks while driving growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish new connections through referrals from clients, community involvement, and collaboration with internal partners.
  • Assess the diverse needs of high-net-worth clients and deliver customized advice in partnership with the client team. Leverage planning capabilities to create solutions across investments, trust services, credit, deposits, and other relevant offerings.
  • Lead the CNB team in business development initiatives, including organizing pre-brief and de-brief meetings.
  • Identify further opportunities within existing client relationships and utilize all available resources to become the primary financial provider.
  • Oversee client relationships by guiding the client team in planning, execution, and regular reviews, ensuring a superior client experience through proactive communication.
  • Evaluate clients' financial needs and monitor their ongoing circumstances to make necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure the implementation of relationship plans tailored to each client.
  • Collaborate with the Client Manager and the client team to prepare all necessary presentation and review materials.
  • Confirm that clients' current objectives, risk tolerance, and constraints are accurately reflected in the Investment Policy Statement (IPS) for managed investments.
  • Facilitate regular, customized investment and relationship reviews between the client team and clients.
  • For colleagues with FINRA Licenses, review asset management and brokerage statements with clients, partnering with the City National Securities Investment Officer to discuss market conditions and investment strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clients' financial situations while ensuring they comprehend the solutions provided.
  • Communicate proactively with clients and all relevant risk areas, particularly the Credit Team when a borrowing relationship exists.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years in asset management, banking/credit, personal trust, or brokerage services.
  • At least 10 years of sales and relationship management experience in financial services, particularly with high-net-worth clients.
  • Possession of FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 or 66 licenses.
  • California Insurance License.

Skills and Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of products and services relevant to high-net-worth clients.
  • Thorough understanding of credit policies, procedures, and banking operations.
  • Proven sales and marketing capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to initiate and nurture relationships with clients requiring comprehensive financial solutions.
  • Contributes positively to collaboration with business lines and product partners to foster growth.
  • May collaborate with another Client Advisor to manage a revenue book of up to $2 million.
  • Typically holds a BA or MBA with at least 8 years of experience in financial services.
  • May hold additional certifications such as CFP, JD/LLM, CIMA, or Cannon Certified Wealth Strategist.
  • Preferred possession of FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 or 66 securities licenses and state insurance license.

Compensation: Starting base salary ranges from $127,626 to $237,014 annually, with variations based on skills, experience, and location. This position is eligible for bonuses and/or commissions.
