Nexus Circular is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Sustainability Leader to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in developing and executing strategies that drive a favorable legislative and regulatory environment for our plastic recycling technology.



The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating programs that drive positive change, experience with business and relationship development, and knowledge of plastic recycling market dynamics. This role will require you to work closely with external stakeholders, including industry associations and strategic contacts, to collaborate and align on key issues that impact the sustained growth and long-term viability of advanced recycling technologies.



Key Responsibilities

1. Advocacy and Engagement


  • Develop and execute advocacy engagement plans with specific strategies and tactics to drive a favorable legislative and regulatory environment.
  • Proactively educate and advocate industry associations to leverage their networks for positive change.
  • Create consortia and coalitions with strategic contacts and companies across the value chain to drive favorable alignment on mass balance and EPR legislation.
  • Define opportunities and develop strategies to engage with brands through industry associations.
  • Develop comprehensive advocacy communications strategies with supporting collateral.


2. Sustainability Standards and Certifications


  • Identify and vet recycling and sustainability standards organizations and associated work groups developing foundations for advanced recycling legislation.
  • Define engagement levels and resources required for effective industry leadership and influence.
  • Manage and coach technical resources to ensure a consistent, coordinated approach for regulatory advocacy across stakeholder groups.
  • Lead the development of Nexus' sustainability certifications and metrics, such as ISCC PLUS, and measure and track environmental performance metrics.


The ideal candidate should have a technical degree in a relevant field, such as chemistry, engineering, or environmental sciences, and 10+ years of experience in business and relationship development, with 5+ years of experience in plastics supply chain, plastics recycling, and sustainability.



This role offers a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package. If you are passionate about creating positive change and have the skills and experience to drive our sustainability initiatives, please submit your application.
