Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Circulation Supervisor to join our team at the library. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the library's Circulation Department, managing the circulation staff, and overseeing all Interlibrary Loan (ILL), course reserves, and circulation-related library catalog, Five Colleges of Ohio, and OhioLink responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and review daytime and evening circulation staff members.
  • Assist with continuous desk coverage and patron service.
  • Provide customer service and perform circulation-related tasks.
  • Hire, schedule, mentor, discipline, and assist in the training and supervising of the department's student employees.
  • Lead the department and serve as a library resource for all circulation questions and issues.
  • Collaborate with Deputy Director to develop departmental policies and workflows that are consistent with best practices and policies.
  • Maintain accuracy of the library patron database, communicating with other campus personnel and departments as needed.
  • Prepare annual reports.
  • Maintain all library fines and fees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in any field.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience in a library, or equivalent customer service position.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and motivate employees.
  • Expert-level analytical and critical thinking, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize the workload of circulation staff.
  • Expert problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain predictable and regular attendance and work a flexible schedule, including daytime, evening and weekend hours, on site.
  • Technical, computer, and software skills.
  • Demonstrated desire to seek professional growth.
