Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Referral Coordinator to join our team at Mount Sinai Health System. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling referrals for patients in our department and coordinating with outside agencies to ensure seamless processing and tracking of referrals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with managed care provider relations staff to resolve insurance issues and stay up-to-date on industry trends.
  • Provide education and training to new clerical employees on managed care processes.
  • Maintain accurate patient databases and reconcile referral information.
  • Review daily clinic reports to identify referrals that require follow-up and ensure that necessary documentation is obtained.
  • Communicate with patients and providers to obtain necessary information and resolve issues.
  • Generate referrals for patients who require them and ensure that all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Coordinate with finance to distribute referrals and ensure timely payment.
  • Retain records of all referrals for a period of one year.
  • Resolve billing issues with managed care companies and provide necessary information to expedite payment.
  • Act as a resource for staff on managed care issues and provide support and guidance as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
