Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Strategic Sourcing Director for Indirect Spend Categories who will spearhead the strategic sourcing of indirect spend for Smithfield Foods. This role encompasses developing category strategies, collaborating with stakeholders, and negotiating contracts to drive cost savings and supply chain continuity. Key responsibilities include:
  • Utilizing strategic sourcing methodologies to develop category strategies, source, negotiate contracts, and manage suppliers.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to create synergies and drive optimal value to the organization.
  • Proactively working with suppliers to ensure delivery of continuous improvement and technology leading to a competitive advantage for Smithfield.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for cross-functional partners across Facility Services categories.
  • Managing cost model strategies with key suppliers.
  • Leading cross-functional teams through sourcing and project management processes to support supply management and operations objectives.
  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with business stakeholders to identify new opportunities for cost savings and execution of long-term sourcing strategies.


Qualifications & Skills
To excel in this role, you must possess a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired qualifications include:
  • A Master's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in team management and development.
  • Contract negotiation expertise, including development of negotiating plans and strategies.
  • Progressive experience utilizing strategic sourcing methodology.
  • Influencer skills, providing training, guidance, or mentoring to less experienced staff.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent PC skills, including MS Office and SAP.
