Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Alcohol Counselor to join our team at St. Mary's Health Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions to individuals struggling with substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist patients with performing activities of daily living.
Provide or assist with providing direct patient care, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions.
Observe and record patient behavior and activities, reporting any changes in condition and suggesting modifications to the treatment plan.
Establish a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients.
Provide assessment and treatment of substance use disorders using evidence-based tools and strategies.
Coordinate patient care with other members of the healthcare team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

Requirements:

High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.
Required Credential(s): Counselor specializing in Alcohol and Drug Abuse credentialed from the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date.

Working Conditions:

This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
Must follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
