Penn State Brandywine is seeking applications for a faculty role as a Lecturer (Master's) or Assistant Teaching Professor (Ph.D.) in the field of Information Sciences and Technology. This position is a limited-term academic appointment, with a strong potential for renewal.
We are looking for a passionate and engaging individual dedicated to delivering high-quality education in a student-focused setting. The instructor will play a vital role in supporting the success of all students, particularly those from historically and currently underrepresented backgrounds in higher education and STEM disciplines. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching 12 contact hours each semester, primarily focusing on cybersecurity courses, with possible secondary assignments in information technology and programming. These courses will contribute to the degree programs at Penn State Brandywine, especially in Cybersecurity Analytics and Operations and Information Technology. Teaching responsibilities may include day, evening, and/or Saturday classes, utilizing traditional, hybrid, and/or online formats. Prior successful experience in college-level and online teaching is highly valued, along with a strong enthusiasm for collaboration in a multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver 12 contact hours of instruction weekly.
• Engage in course, curriculum, and program development.
• Advise students, oversee student projects, and provide career guidance.
• Participate in campus, university, and community service initiatives.
• Engage in scholarly and professional development activities to remain current in the field, including effective teaching methodologies.
Qualifications:
A Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Information Security, or a closely related discipline is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in teaching subjects such as data privacy, information security management, cyber-defense, security analytics, incident response, or cyber-crime and relevant legal aspects in a cybersecurity context is preferred. Experience in other areas of Information Technology, including familiarity with programming languages (Java, Python, scripting), secure programming practices, and the administration of various operating systems is advantageous. Evidence of potential for research and publication, interest in collaborative learning, and the use of technology in instruction are also beneficial.
