Principal Software Architect

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced software professional to join our development team on a classified government program in the DMV. The role is hybrid, requiring a strong technical background and excellent leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of software architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for complex software systems.
  • Develop and maintain software verification plans, test procedures, and test environments to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Provide technical leadership for software projects and lead software supplier management activities.
  • Develop and deploy processes, tools, and metrics to ensure software development efficiency and quality.
  • Plan, execute, and document software research and development projects.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations.
  • Track and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor's degree).
  • 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience designing and developing software for real-time or non-real-time systems.
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis through formal qualification.
  • Experience in software development using languages such as C, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  • Experience using team collaboration tools, including Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (e.g. Gitlab, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory).
