Job Title: Transmission Planning Engineer III or Senior

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Transmission Planning Engineer III or Senior to join our team at the Municipal Electric Authority of GA. As a key member of our Transmission Planning department, you will be responsible for leading complex transmission planning studies, coordinating the development of long-term transmission plans, and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead transmission planning studies, including system reliability, grid expansion, and interconnection.
  • Coordinate the development of long-term transmission plans with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
  • Interface with regulatory bodies, utilities, and other stakeholders on planning processes.
  • Evaluate existing transmission facilities and initiate improvement projects to accommodate load growth or improved reliability.
  • Coordinate design, engineering, and construction for new or improvement projects.
  • Participate in joint planning studies with other ITS members and neighboring electric utilities.
  • Assist Principal and Senior Planning Engineers with various studies upon request.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on power systems.
  • 4-6 years of experience in transmission planning, grid studies, power system operations, or related fields (III Level).
  • 6-8 years of experience in transmission planning, operations, or related fields (Senior Level).
  • Advanced knowledge of transmission system analysis, including dynamic stability studies, short-circuit analysis, and transient stability.
  • Proficiency in grid simulation and modeling software (PSSE, TARA, PSCAD, etc.).
  • Strong technical report writing and presentation skills.
