Our Southeast region is seeking a Senior Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to bolster our expanding Transmission & Distribution practice. The ideal candidate will:

+ Execute, direct, and oversee all engineering tasks associated with overhead transmission line design. This encompasses PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structural analysis, loading trees, establishing design criteria, sag-tension calculations, wire blowout assessments, swing angle evaluations, damper recommendations, structure placement, clearance assessments, wire selection, and more.

+ Develop specifications for construction, hardware, and materials for high voltage overhead transmission lines (HV OH T-Line); engage in structure design and development; select hardware; and supervise field installations.

+ Create construction drawings and cost estimates for high voltage overhead transmission lines.

+ Additional responsibilities include mentoring and guiding junior staff members. This role has the potential to evolve into a leadership position, where the individual will be expected to lead engineering teams and serve as a primary liaison between Burns & McDonnell Engineers and our clients. Experience as a technical lead on projects and conducting quality reviews is advantageous.

+ Undertake other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

+ A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program is required. Professional certification, EIT, and/or a professional engineer license is highly desirable.

+ A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilities (completion of a master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience).

+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate in a team environment and possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities is essential.

+ A keen attention to detail, along with skills in facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving.

+ Experience in designing lines ranging from 69kV to 500kV and familiarity with Power Line system-based software (e.g., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE) is preferred.

+ Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
