Position Overview
As a GIS Analyst I, you will engage in spatial analysis and produce maps and reports to effectively communicate your findings. Your role will involve gathering requirements and supporting the development of GIS applications and interactive mapping solutions. You will implement GIS technologies, provide training to staff, and oversee the design, administration, and maintenance of spatial databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct spatial analysis and generate visual representations of data.
- Collect, review, and refine spatial and related datasets.
- Utilize advanced GIS tools and techniques to perform various analyses and deliver solutions.
- Prepare and present analytical findings to diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with end users to gather and clarify requirements.
- Develop mapping, reporting, and application solutions tailored to meet identified needs.
- Implement GIS solutions and provide specifications for necessary software and hardware components.
- Adapt systems to fulfill specific organizational requirements.
- Train users on GIS technologies and applications.
- Ensure the integrity and compliance of GIS data through effective database management.
- Manage data migration into relational databases and facilitate data import/export across various systems.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies essential for GIS operations.
- Perform minor maintenance on GIS equipment as needed.
Qualifications
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field. Proficiency in the Esri ArcGIS suite, along with a solid understanding of spatial analysis methodologies. Familiarity with standard software applications, including GIS, office productivity, and database management tools. Basic knowledge of software development practices and SQL relational databases is beneficial.
Communication Skills
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, fostering strong working relationships with colleagues and the public.
Work Environment:
Standard office setting.
