Job Description

Under the supervision of a Deputy Labor Commissioner III (Senior Deputy), the incumbent assists professional staff in performing less complex assignments, including investigations of alleged adverse actions occurring by employees who exercise their labor rights provided by the Labor Code, Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) Orders, the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Code and the Health and Safety Code.

The incumbent meets with employers, employees, and their representatives to gain understanding of their positions regarding compliance with state labor laws, specifically surrounding retaliation provisions.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must be either reachable on an employment list, have transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, human resources, or industrial relations
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Estimated Salary Range: $64,000 - $90,000 per year

Working Conditions

This position is located at 7575 Metropolitan Dr. Suite 210, San Diego, CA 92108. The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone, and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday. Overtime and occasional travel to an off-site location may be required for meetings and/or training.
