Infection Prevention Specialist

Job Summary:

Develops and implements comprehensive infection prevention and control programs to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Identifies and escalates infection control problems, disease outbreaks, exposure, epidemics, and pandemics. Analyzes and evaluates data to identify areas of improvement and designs educational programs to promote infection prevention and control practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to promote learning and drive projects forward. Builds relationships with stakeholders and provides actionable feedback to improve performance.
  • Conducts or oversees business-specific projects, applying expertise in infection prevention and control. Promotes adherence to policies and procedures and partners with internal and external stakeholders to make effective business decisions.
  • Educates others on infection prevention and control practices, including follow-up consultations, assessing learning needs, and designing educational programs.
  • Provides expertise in epidemiology, analyzing and summarizing rates and trends of occupational exposure to infectious disease. Reviews infection prevention and control policies and workflows related to occupational health.
  • Conducts surveillance, identifying infection control problems, disease outbreaks, exposure, epidemics, and pandemics, and escalates findings to leaders. Coordinates with senior staff to implement surveillance programs and synthesizes findings from investigations.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives, analyzing and evaluating infection prevention and control programs to identify areas of improvement. Selects and deploys performance improvement tools and ensures customer needs are being heard in the design of processes and products.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of experience in infection prevention, clinical quality management, or a directly related field.
  • Infection Control Certificate within 24 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse License in the state where care is provided.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control.
