Job Title: Patient Account Representative

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Account Representative to join our team at MedMark Treatment Center. As a Patient Account Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our revenue cycle, maintaining accurate patient records, and providing exceptional customer service to our patients and payers.

Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient insurance benefits and billing information, and annotate accounts accordingly.
  • Process fiscal and account records, including maintenance of third-party billing records and resolution of payment and billing issues.
  • Communicate with payers, patients, and internal stakeholders to resolve account discrepancies and ensure timely payment.
  • Reconcile daily money collected and maintain accurate accounts, including required signatures, proper account annotation, and current demographics.
  • Monitor insurance authorizations and claim rejections, and perform tasks consistent with authorization and billing requirements.
  • Manage revenue cycle, production logs, balances, and collections for self-pay clients.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records and assist with archiving discharged files.
  • Respond to requests for information regarding accounts from payers, attorneys, and others.
  • Provide backup support to the receptionist as needed, including checking in patients, collecting payments, answering phones, and data entry.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience in a medical office setting.
  • 2-4 years of experience with Medicaid and commercial insurance (preferred).
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional public presentation skills, including telephone etiquette.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance claims procedures, documentation, and records maintenance.
  • Knowledge of medical billing procedures, gathering and compiling data into reports.
  • Proficient in basic PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, program management, medical staff, counselors, and peers.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, manage stressful situations, and exhibit excellent customer service skills.
  • Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
