Position Overview
Role Summary
The primary responsibility of the Electrical/Instrumentation Maintenance Lead is to effectively oversee and coordinate skilled maintenance personnel engaged in the upkeep, repair, and installation of equipment within the designated area.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will ensure the efficient and timely execution of maintenance tasks by managing, scheduling, and planning the workforce, materials, and equipment required for maintenance operations. This role will also involve coordinating contract maintenance services. The ideal candidate will leverage practical expertise regarding the tools, materials, and equipment utilized by maintenance crafts to accurately estimate and schedule work. Additionally, there may be occasions where assistance is needed in other mill areas.
The E/I Maintenance Lead will collaborate closely with production and other supervisory teams throughout the facility to make estimates, establish priorities, and schedule crafts. The ability to manage deadlines, fluctuating workloads, and be available on-call when necessary is essential.
Core Duties
- Supervise maintenance crews, manage parts requisition, uphold work specifications, and schedule tasks as required;
- Oversee supervisory functions during planned maintenance shutdowns, including participation in planning meetings, creating computer-generated Gantt charts, and coordinating with external contractors. Daily collaboration with operations, maintenance staff, engineering, purchasing, and contractors is crucial;
- Ensure adherence to predictive and preventative maintenance schedules while managing daily electrical troubleshooting, prompt issue resolution, and electrical enhancement initiatives;
- Facilitate effective communication between maintenance teams and all other operational teams within the mill;
- Prioritize and manage the maintenance backlog utilizing SAP maintenance systems;
- Report on backlog status, planned work, and cost performance metrics;
- Collaborate with the Purchasing department on repairs, rebuilds, and the procurement of equipment and parts;
- Administer the contract labor agreement with the local union, overseeing the bidding process for appropriate work and ensuring compliance with outsourcing procedures;
- Maintain daily time records for hourly staff;
- Promote a safe working environment for the Electrical/Instrumentation team through training, monitoring, and ongoing coaching and mentoring.
A two-year technical degree or equivalent is preferred; a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is highly desirable;
A minimum of five years of electrical/instrumentation experience in an industrial setting;
Capability to manage deadlines, variable workloads, and be on-call as needed;
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team;
Experience with SAP, particularly SAP Maintenance, is preferred;
Familiarity with Microsoft Project is a plus.
