Job Title: Strategic Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Systems Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in the development and assessment of requirements, architectures, and test plans for strategic weapons systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and assess requirements for strategic weapons systems
  • Develop architectures and test plans for strategic weapons systems
  • Perform trade studies, requirements analysis, functional analysis, and performance assessment for strategic weapons systems
  • Participate in design and requirements reviews
  • Provide domain expertise and conduct research, studies, and analysis on current and future weapons system capabilities and performance
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field
  • Experience performing systems engineering
  • Experience in early concept development, requirements analysis, design, test, and evaluation, and risk assessment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to participate in multidisciplinary teams, including industry and government sponsors
  • Willingness and ability to travel periodically
  • Active Secret security clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in systems engineering
  • Experience in systems engineering for missile systems
  • Understanding of DoD acquisition processes, Navy Strategic Systems programs, and/or Air Force ICBM programs
  • Familiarity with systems engineering software, especially model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools like Magic Draw and DOORS
  • Knowledge of the Navy Trident II Strategic Weapon System and/or Air Force ICBM System
  • Active Top Secret security clearance
