Position Overview: The Aviation Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the thorough overhaul, repair, inspection, and testing of various aircraft components and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and analyze maintenance manuals and technical documents to assess the feasibility and methods for completing assigned tasks.
- Conduct cleaning and inspection of aircraft components to identify any damage or wear, utilizing visual assessments and specialized tools.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures for maintaining cleanliness and performing preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Replace or repair damaged or worn aircraft parts using a variety of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and precision measuring instruments, ensuring proper assembly.
- Execute tests and checks as necessary to verify the serviceability of aircraft components, employing specialized tools and equipment.
- Document all inspection results and maintenance actions accurately in the appropriate records to comply with established standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and tools.
- Implement proper tool and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) control measures.
- Perform all tasks safely, utilizing the correct technical data for each assignment.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean methodologies to identify and eliminate waste, enhance quality and safety, reduce lead times, and lower costs.
- Exhibit behavior in alignment with the company’s core values.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education or advanced training in a technical field is preferred.
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license is desirable; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Documented training in military or commercial aircraft maintenance is preferred.
- Four or more years of mechanical experience is advantageous.
- Strong aptitude for acquiring new mechanical skills and knowledge is essential.
- Experience with specific aircraft components is preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean practices in a production setting is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical data relevant to assigned tasks.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and hand tools appropriate for the work.
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as required by production demands.
- Capability to work in various environments, including shop settings and outdoor locations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
