Job Overview

Objective:

The primary aim of this position is to ensure the optimal functionality of mechanical systems through diligent maintenance practices. This role involves the repair and upkeep of machinery and mechanical apparatus, including pumps, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production equipment. Monitoring equipment performance and diagnosing issues is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Duties

  • Monitor mechanical devices during operation, identifying issues through careful observation and precise measurement tools.
  • Disassemble machinery to inspect components for wear and tear, and either repair or replace faulty parts.
  • Evaluate used components to assess changes in specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Adjust operational parts and install necessary components to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Perform cleaning and lubrication of machinery parts.
  • Operate metalworking tools like drill presses and grinders to fabricate and repair components.
  • Initiate machinery to verify operational efficiency.
  • Order necessary parts and equipment for maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct light welding tasks as needed.
  • Fulfill maintenance obligations as per manufacturer guidelines or directives.
  • Execute basic electrical and instrumentation tasks when required.

Human Resources Compliance

  • Adhere to company HR policies and relevant employment regulations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety protocols and security measures diligently.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing to foster the development of the maintenance team.
  • Maintain regular communication with colleagues regarding the status of repairs and part requests.
  • Demonstrate exceptional performance in a challenging production environment characterized by noise and heat.
  • Undertake other assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical terminology is essential.
  • Ability to identify issues with various industrial machinery, including pneumatics and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of laser alignment techniques.
  • Experience with light welding.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and instrumentation.
  • Previous experience in food processing environments is advantageous.

Working Conditions

  • The role requires frequent standing, walking, and the use of hands for handling tools and controls.
  • Regular lifting of up to 10 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds is necessary.
  • Specific vision capabilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, along with depth perception.
  • Exposure to airborne particles and chemicals may occur, along with working near moving mechanical parts.
  • The position may involve working in high places and occasional exposure to toxic or caustic substances.
  • The role may also require working in wet or humid conditions and may involve risks such as electrical shock and vibration.

Other Considerations

  • Occasional overtime may be necessary.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts is required.
