Job Title: Seasonal Day Labor Seafood Processor Positions

This is a seasonal day labor position offered in partnership with our staffing agency, requiring residence in the Moss Landing or Wilmington, CA areas. Please note that you will be employed by our partnering agency in California.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Seafood Processor to join our team. As a Day Labor Seafood Processor, you will be responsible for processing seafood products, including cleaning, scraping, trimming, and filleting. You will also be required to handle raw materials, place them on belts, and sort products according to grade, color, and size.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Clean, scrape, trim, and fillet seafood products.
  • Handle raw materials, place them on belts, and sort products according to grade, color, and size.
  • Discard substandard items and foreign objects.
  • Pack products for storage or shipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Assist in plant cleanup.
  • Punctuality and reliability are essential.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math is required for some positions.
  • Visually identify defects in seafood products.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in the seafood industry is a plus, but not required.
  • We welcome applicants with no prior experience or training.
Work Environment and Schedule:
  • Work up to 16 hours per day, with breaks 4 or more hours apart.
  • Work up to 6 days per week.
  • Perform tasks in cold and wet environments.
  • Stand for long periods, make repetitive motions, and engage in physical activities such as climbing stairs, twisting, bending, and occasionally sitting or crouching.
  • Work efficiently in a team and maintain focus throughout the shift.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and use hands and arms for extended periods.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be capable of lifting/moving up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must live within proximity to our local facilities and be able to travel independently.
Mental Demands:
  • Frequent use of interpersonal and customer service skills.
