Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician II to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a key member of our Central Processing Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care by processing and sterilizing medical equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decontaminate, clean, package, sterilize, store, and distribute medical equipment and supplies in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain various equipment, including steam sterilizers, plasma sterilizers, and automated endoscope reprocessors.
  • Inventory and restock supplies, and specialty carts, as needed.
  • Order specialty beds and other patient equipment, as required.
  • Disassemble, clean, or decontaminate surgical instruments, as needed.
  • Assemble, inspect, test, wrap, and date all OR sets, including specialty sets.
  • Use instrument and equipment tracking systems to document tests and sterilizer records.
  • Examine and maintain the integrity of sterile packages.
  • Prepare OR case carts according to preference cards on all surgical procedures.
  • Promote, ensure, and improve customer service to internal and external customers.
Requirements
  • Two (2) years recent experience as a Sterile Processing Technician working in a Sterile Processing Department in an acute hospital or a Surgical Technician with two (2) years recent experience working in a Sterile Processing Department in an acute hospital.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
  • Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program including 400 clinical hours or a Surgical Technician program.
  • Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution - Technician Certification or Registered Central Service Technician Certificate or Surgical Technologist Certificate.

  • This is an On-Call position, days and hours may vary.
  • This is an 8-hour status, per diem position.
  • Must be able to work variable shifts.
  • Be a fully engaged team member.
  • Adhere to attendance policy.
  • Rotate weekends; shifts may change per operational needs.
  • Holiday work requirement.
