Overview

The Mercy Medical Center, Inc. is on the lookout for a board-certified gastroenterologist with specialized training in gastrointestinal motility, particularly in esophageal conditions.

Key Responsibilities

The selected physician will engage in comprehensive patient management within the Mercy Medical Center framework, overseeing all facets of care including assessment, diagnosis, patient education, and treatment of motility disorders. This role operates under the guidance of the director of neuro-gastroenterology & motility and reports directly to the director of the institute.

Our facility boasts a cutting-edge motility center, supported by a dedicated team that includes skilled therapeutic endoscopists, nursing staff, dietitians, and surgical experts. The Mercy Medical Center also offers:

  • ACGME accredited fellowship training in gastroenterology
  • Advanced Endoscopy Unit equipped with the latest technology
  • Established programs in colorectal surgery and bariatric care
  • A well-organized clinical research unit with full-time statistical support
  • Teaching collaboration with a prominent medical school
  • A collegial environment with a diverse group of 13 gastroenterologists, including specialists in hepatology, advanced endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, and colorectal surgery.
  • A high-demand practice for motility, recognized as the sole comprehensive service in the area
  • Extensive motility services including esophageal manometry, ambulatory pH monitoring, and various breath tests, along with anorectal manometry and biofeedback bowel retraining.

The chosen candidate will have the opportunity for further training at a mutually agreed-upon center.

Qualifications

  • Completion of ACGME accredited residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology
  • Possession or eligibility for a Maryland state physician license
  • Training in gastrointestinal motility is essential
  • A strong interest in esophageal motility and clinical research is required
