Overview

The Mercy Medical Center, Inc. is in search of a board-certified gastroenterologist with specialized training in gastrointestinal motility disorders, particularly those affecting the esophagus.

Key Responsibilities

The selected physician will be integral to the Mercy Medical Center, Inc. team, overseeing comprehensive patient care that includes assessment, diagnosis, education, and management of motility disorders. This role will be conducted under the guidance of the director of neuro-gastroenterology and motility, with reporting responsibilities to the director of the center.

Mercy Medical Center, Inc. boasts a fully equipped, state-of-the-art motility center supported by a dedicated team, including skilled therapeutic endoscopists, nursing staff, dietitians, and surgeons. The center also features:

  • ACGME accredited fellowship program in gastroenterology
  • Advanced endoscopy unit
  • Established programs in colorectal surgery and bariatric care
  • A well-managed clinical research unit supported by a full-time statistician
  • Academic collaboration with a prominent medical school
  • A collaborative environment with a team of 13 physicians, including general gastroenterologists, hepatologists, advanced endoscopists, IBD specialists, and colorectal surgeons.
  • A high-demand practice for motility, being the only comprehensive service available in the area
  • Comprehensive motility services, including esophageal manometry, ambulatory pH monitoring, and various specialized testing and treatments.

The chosen candidate will have the opportunity for further training at a mutually agreed-upon center.

Qualifications

  • Completion of ACGME residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology
  • Possession or eligibility for a Maryland state physician license
  • Specialized training in gastrointestinal motility
  • A strong interest in esophageal motility and clinical research
