Job Title: Homeless Crisis Response Coordinator
Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year
Housing Forward is a leading organization in providing emergency shelter services and crisis-response solutions to individuals and families facing homelessness. We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Homeless Crisis Response Coordinator to join our team.
About the Role:
This part-time position will be responsible for welcoming clients into our program, completing initial intakes, and working closely with volunteers to ensure that participants have a safe place to sleep and their basic needs are met.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, ability to problem-solve in stressful situations, and a strong understanding of crisis intervention techniques. As a member of our team, you will work collaboratively to provide holistic support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide orientation to new clients, complete intakes, and identify special needs
- Assess clients' immediate housing situation, determine underlying issues, and offer short-term solutions
- Coordinate with Supportive Services Specialists to secure documentation and connect clients to housing resources
- Triage and de-escalate persons in crisis, connect them to emergency resources, and notify outreach specialists when necessary
- Serve as main contact with clients until they are assigned a case manager
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A bachelor's degree in social work or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, empathy, and conflict resolution
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple responsibilities and priorities
- Comfortable interacting with diverse groups of people, including clients, volunteers, and colleagues
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Agency communication and collaboration tools
