Job Overview

Housing Assistants play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our board and lodge housing facilities. They provide support and guidance to clients, helping them navigate the recovery process and achieve independent living.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Support: Providing guidance and support to clients in adhering to program rules and routines.
  • Program Support: Ensuring client schedules are followed and policies are upheld. Collaborating with the House Manager to facilitate household functions, including meal service and chore assignments.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation, including shift notes and incident reports. Ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards in record-keeping and confidentiality.
  • Crisis Intervention: Managing behavior emergencies using protective procedures and de-escalation techniques according to Turning Point policy.
  • Administrative Duties: Answering phones, checking emails, maintaining supplies, and assigning client chore lists.
  • Housing Team Support: Communicating with housing team members to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to housing services.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in housing and/or recovery services is a plus.
  • Knowledge of addiction treatment modalities and mental health concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Compassion, empathy, and the ability to provide non-judgmental support to clients.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other software programs.
  • Knowledge of ethical and legal standards related to client confidentiality and record-keeping.
  • Crisis intervention skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
  • Flexibility in working hours, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid MN State driver's license.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Trained on CPR and Narcan.
  • Knowledge in culturally specific treatment services.
