About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanic to join our team at the New York Blood Center. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete work orders involving electrical component replacement, plumbing fixture repair, and carpentry tasks.
  • Build new storage space, office space, sidewalks, retaining walls, and hallways.
  • Inspect rooftops, walls, walkways, light fixtures, windows, drains, and other areas for preventive maintenance needs.
  • Troubleshoot and perform various electrical work.
  • Locate the cause of general building and process system malfunctions.
  • Handle various plumbing tasks involving copper, PVC, brass, and stainless materials.
  • Evaluate refrigeration system performance and make necessary repairs.
  • Organize work assignments and small projects where multiple mechanics are needed.
  • Monitor Building Management System (BMS) and Isensix System.
  • Maintain all records and logs.
  • Prepare various reports.
  • Perform other related functions as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 2 years' experience handling general building issues and equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to operate hand/power tools properly and safely.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, multi-tasking, and oral/written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work overtime and participate in shift incentives.
